Three World Ranking Indonesia Cigarette Fiend



VIVAnews - Issues Management Agency Coordinator Smoking (LM3) Baradja Fuad said Indonesia is a country with the largest number of smokers in the world's third number.

"Indonesia is under China and India," said Fuad in the Guidance Area Campaign No Smoking in Terminal Kampung Rambutan, East Jakarta, Monday, December 21, 2009.

He said, as quoted Menkokesra pages, it is surprising that Indonesia is not a country with the third largest population in the world.

The population of Indonesia is still inferior to the United States population, but more smokers in the country than in the United States. Fuad also explained, as much as 48 percent of smokers in the ASEAN region or Southeast Asia is in Indonesia.

Globally, he said, in the year 2008 there were six million deaths from smoking and that number will increase to 10 million deaths in 2030. "As many as 70 percent of deaths due to tobacco in developing countries," he said.

According to him, people are still many who do not care about the dangers of smoking because of the damaging effects of cigarettes is not obtained in the short term but in the long run is about 20 to 50 years.
