wo-train accident victim increases Belgium


The death toll from the crash of two trains in Belgium continue to grow. So far confirmed 18 people were killed and 95 others were injured.

This fatal incident occurred on the outskirts of Brussels when two commuter trains is filled by the passengers who will go to work in the capital. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

But there is suspicion of an accident during rush hour this morning due to driver error and lack of safety equipment one of the train.

In a joint statement which manages Infrabel rail lines and the Belgian railway SNCB which manages high-speed train, the death toll reached 18 people. The death toll of the 15 men and 3 women.

Meanwhile, wounded as many as 95 people with. Eleven people from the victims of such injuries is currently in critical condition.

The rescue workers search for victims stopped when the day had changed the night.

"We thought there was no victim in the wagons," said the Belgian crisis center personnel Anja De Wolf as quoted by AFP news agency on Tuesday (16/2/2010).

Around 250-300 people are on these two trains during the incident. This is one of the worst train accident in the history of Belgium.

As a result of this incident, King of Belgium Albert II who was on holiday in France, shorten his vacation to visit the crash site along with Prime Minister Yves Leterme.
